Hebron Demonstration Attacked by Soldiers; Six Arrested

Soldiers and Border Police officers attacked a peaceful demonstration in the Old City of Hebron today. A Palestinian, an Israeli, a Swede and three French activists were arrested.

Former Vice President of European Parliament Arrested in Bil'in

Israeli forces arrested Lusia Morgantini, the former Vice President of the European Parliament, and three others during the weekly anti-wall demonstration in the West Bank village of Bil'in earlier today. All were released once the soldiers realized who was in their hands.

Criminalization of Popular Struggle Continued; Abdallah Abu Rahmah Sentenced

Abdallah Abu Rahmah's first trial from 2005 had reached conclusion yesterday, with his sentencing to two months of imprisonment and a six months suspended sentence for participating and organizing demonstrations and for walking the streets of his village during a curfew designed to prevent a demonstration. A verdict in Abu Rahmah's main case for which he is already in jail since December is expected soon.

Another Palestinian Gandhi Crushed by Israel

On the 7th of July 2010, five Palestinians from villages throughout the West Bank stood trial for the involvement in unarmed struggle against Israel's continued military occupation. Those on trial had been snatched from their beds in the middle of the night, accused of stone throwing or participation in an illegal protest and interrogated in unnamed Israeli military bases . They are the latest to be caught in Israel's recent wave of repression directed at the popular unarmed resistance in the West Bank.
